Meet Your Mediators
Two attorneys. One calmer path through.
When you mediate with us, you sit down with Barbra Homier or Courtney Quist — not a faceless firm. Two seasoned Michigan family law attorneys, with a combined 40+ years of experience, guiding you to an agreement you help shape.
The people you’ll actually work with.
Mediation only works when you trust the person at the head of the table. Barbra and Courtney have spent their careers helping West Michigan families divorce smarter — keeping the focus on children and finding a calmer, more affordable path than a courtroom fight.
Here’s who they are, and what each brings to your mediation.

Barbra Homier
Creative solutions for everyday families.
With more than 20 years across litigated, mediated, and collaborative divorce, Barbra believes families are best served by creative solutions tailored to their circumstances — not a cookie-cutter template. Her focus is a calmer, more affordable path that keeps children at the center.
She’s known for prompt communication, a clear-eyed weighing of litigation versus settlement, and detailed cost-versus-reward analysis — helping families divorce smarter and more efficiently.
Most families don’t need a courtroom fight. They need a practical plan that works for their children and their everyday lives.

Courtney Quist
Respond effectively — don’t escalate.
Courtney has concentrated her 24-year career in divorce, custody and parenting time, child support, and post-judgment matters. A partner at Quist Homier Law, she practices collaborative divorce and serves as an experienced mediator.
People pursue divorce or custody changes to improve their lives — rarely does it help when anger or ego takes over. A longtime leader in West Michigan collaborative divorce, Courtney brings a steady, neutral presence focused on responding effectively rather than escalating.
Every family is unique, and a resolution for one family will not necessarily serve another. There is no “one size fits all.”

Why two mediators is your advantage.
Barbra and Courtney are the partners behind Quist Homier Law and Divorce Outside the Box. Together they bring two perspectives, two decades each of experience, and one shared belief: that families with children deserve a way to divorce with less conflict, more privacy, and far less cost.
Depth of experience
40+ combined years across litigation, collaborative divorce, and mediation means very little is new to them — and complexity doesn’t rattle the process.
The right fit for you
Two mediators means you can work with whoever best fits your situation and schedule — both committed to keeping you in control of the outcome.
A smarter divorce
Their whole approach is built to preserve relationships and resources — helping families divorce smarter, better, and more efficiently.

This page is general information, not legal advice, and contacting us does not create an attorney–client relationship, which is formed only through a signed engagement agreement. As mediators, Barbra and Courtney are neutral and do not represent either party; we recommend each person have independent counsel review any agreement before signing.
